FIRE DEPT DIRECTORS REJECT PLAY SURFACE/PARKING PROPOSAL

The Fire Dept was approached regarding the paving of a play surface/parking area in the far northeast corner of the property adjacent to the Cap Site. This surface would have been used both for recreation purposes such as youth ball hockey and parking for events at the site . Please see below the quote from the Hall's Harbour Fire Dept. board of directors regarding this effort supplied byDiane Litle, secretary of the HHCDA, following the Jan 18 meeting of the CDA.

Janet ( Gordon) received a letter from Lowell Simpson, Secretary, Fire Dept. Board of Directors.

At their meeting of January 10 they discussed in detail the development of road hockey/basketball court on their property adjacent to Bucknam Park.

“Although there would be no capital cost involved for the department, we decided that it would not be in  our  best interest.  We are concerned about the liability and risk involved with the possibility of injury or damage.  We are concerned about an area being designated a Parking Lot and a Play Area as one.

We do applaud your committee for thinking about the youth.”

Card games every Tuesday night at the Fire Hall. Food fun and "huge" prizes! Come and have a good time! Call Helen at 678 6059 for info.
